Introduction to pottery - Trial

Beginner friendly
guided, One- time session 
$80/single
$120/pair

Join our 3-hour hands-on pottery session at Dirt and Wonder, perfect for all skill levels. Each participant creates one handbuilt piece and one wheel-thrown piece, choosing up to three glaze colors per item. All glazing and firings are done by our studio, making your finished work food safe and microwave safe. Pieces will be ready for pickup in approximately 6–8 weeks.

Join our Curated Guided Pottery Class Package and learn Wheel Throwing or Handbuilding over 5 guided sessions. Each 3-hour class offers personalized instruction focused on building strong fundamentals. In handbuilding, you’ll explore coiling, pinching, slab work, kurinuki, sculpting, and hollowing. In wheel throwing, you’ll learn from the basics—clay wedging, centering, and forming cylinders—to bowls, plates, vases, and efficient shortcut techniques with proper body posture. Glazing and firings are included*, with flexible 5, 10, or 15-session packages available. Open to ages 6+, this program is perfect for beginners and developing potters ready to grow their skills.

Multiple Open Studio Sessions – Independent Practice Pass
Enjoy a self-guided open studio experience where you can work at your own pace on personal projects. This pass is ideal for independent makers, with instructors available for support and questions as needed. Glazing and firings are included*, and you can choose from flexible 5, 10, or 15-session packages to suit your schedule.

Enjoy a self-guided open studio session and work at your own pace on personal projects. This single-day pass allows up to 6 hours of studio access, anytime within our operating hours. Instructors are available for light support if needed. Firing and glazing are not included, making this pass ideal for those who want to test out the studio or practice for the day without firing any work.

Bring your own pottery and rent our kiln at Dirt and Wonder! If you’re using your own clay or glaze, please provide the temperature/cone and clay/glaze details, plus a small sample of your glaze so we can make minor adjustments and protect our kiln. If your glaze is drippy or thick, a little test “cookie” helps us wipe the bottom safely. Rough bottoms or sharp edges? You’re welcome to smooth them at the studio. We’ll inspect everything before returning it, and any damage caused by materials may incur a charge
